But this isn't the greatest argument for your friend. What he doesn't realize is that if you judge a car mainly on how "frugal" it is to upgrade...that's just plain weak! I mean, you pay upwards of 10K more for a great condition low mileage Supra only to save a few thousand dollars modding it. Of course, people like BOTH cars for various reasons and those are opinion based...but the cost of modding is just plain dumb for Supra lovers to cling to. They are just as nuts as us at spending THOUSANDS of dollars trying to get a car tuned and running the way the Stage charts show. Not to mention from a pure performance standpoint, there are many more Supras in the 10s/11s right now. They have had the benefit of a great deal of company support in testing and product development. For a car more limited than the Z, it has way more support. Just recently are people getting into HUGE turbos for the Z and we will have some SICK cars in the next months. Hell, we have 6+ 10 second capable Z's in SoCal alone on their way.
